The Coastal Youth Orchestra’s Spring Concert will be held Thursday May 9th at 7PM at Studzinski Hall on the Bowdoin College, Campus in Brunswick. The concert is free and donations are gratefully accepted.

CYO, founded in 2002, is directed by Nancy Roderick and is comprised of two ensembles. The youth orchestra gives string students of every level a chance to play in a group with other young musicians and to explore quality repertoire. The Fiddleheads, CYO ‘s youngest group, is a beginning string orchestra. The Coastal String Ensemble a more advanced orchestra.

In January of this year, CYO was thrilled to move its weekly rehearsals to Bowdoin College’s beautiful Studzinksi Recital Hall. It has been exciting to have Bowdoin students join in rehearsals and mentor our students. The orchestra performs two concerts a year and does outreach.

This Thursday at 7PM, come and enjoy a great selection of music! The Fiddleheads will begin the program with Millipede Madness, The Abandoned Fun House and Koneko. The CYO Quintet will be joined by their coach and Artist-In-Residence George Lopez to perform the Brooklyn Duo’s arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody. The Coastal String Ensemble will perform Take Five, Telemann’s Concerto in D, Return to Waterford by Andrew Dabczynski, Rogue One, A Star Wars Story and Hoe Down from Aaron Copeland’s Rodeo. Auditions for the 2019/2020 ensemble will take place June 4th. Please contact Nancy Roderick for an audition appointment. 751-4718, nancyroderick87@gmail.com
