“CYO was a great opportunity for me. It gave me the chance to play in an orchestra, which wasn’t available to me at the time at my high school. I got the experience of taking an audition, preparing my own music, and, as a woodwind player, having a part to myself. I also met friends from other schools who I am still in touch with six years later!” ~Jennifer Willis (Pursuing Master of Music in flute performance at University of North Texas)

Dear Friends of CYO,

As the parent of a devoted CYO musician, I have tremendous gratitude for the little orchestra with a big sound. A few years back with an enthusiastic, budding seven-year old violinist in our home, it came as an unwelcome surprise to learn that area school music programs do not include orchestra. Knowing how important an ensemble experience is for young musicians to develop technical skills and a lifelong love of music, we were thrilled to find CYO. What a gift to young musicians in Mid Coast Maine!

Over the past five years, I have enjoyed watching my daughter and others bloom musically under the caring and talented direction of the CYO conductors. I know that the value of the quality orchestral experience CYO provides for area children far outweighs the cost. The CYO board remains true to its commitment to offer affordable tuition and scholarships so that no child is turned away because of financial problems. CYO consistently provides a high quality experience at a low expense thanks to a strong group of donors. Your contributions keep the orchestral experience available to talented young musicians from Gray to Damariscotta!

CYO is additionally committed to promoting program awareness and music appreciation throughout the community. Our concerts are free and open to the public which both benefits the community and inspires future orchestra members. This year, we extended outreach efforts by offering “Ready, Set, Play” which provided introductory violin lessons to students in Brunswick schools free of charge. Our annual 5K and fun run (Sunday, April 29th this year) allows CYO to further connect with the community, as well as raise much needed funds. Although the 5K is growing in popularity, we still find it necessary to continue our yearly mailing.

So I appeal to you, our loyal fan base, to think about donating to CYO once again. Checks are gratefully accepted at the following address.
